Welcome to the Vogler lab

Studying apoptosis and cell death signalling at the Goethe University Frankfurt

Sponsored by the Frankfurter Stiftung für krebskranke Kinder

Team

Meike Vogler

I have been studying apoptosis signalling in cancer since 2002, when I started my PhD in the lab of Simone Fulda at Ulm University and studied the role of IAPs and Smac in TRAIL induced apoptosis. As Postdoc I joined the lab of Gerry Cohen at the MRC Toxicology Unit in Leicester, UK, and started to work on BCL2 proteins and the mitochondrial apotposis. Since 2017 I am employed by the Frankfurter Stiftung für krebskranke Kinder as lab head at the Institute for Experimental Pediatric Hematology and Oncology.

Alina Wallenwein

In April 2023 I started my MD project in the Vogler Lab. My research focuses on the characterization of primary cells and the development of novel 3D models in rhabdomysarcoma.

Raquel Peirera

After finishing my PhD at the Georg-Speyer-Haus (Frankfurt), I changed my research focus from hematological malignancies towards solid tumours. In the Vogler lab I concentrate on the identification of novel treatment approaches using primary cell culture models.

Nadja Pieper

I started my PhD in 2021 and study the role of the anti-apoptotic protein BCL2A1 in Lymphoma.

Marius Anders

I studied Biology in Frankfurt and Mainz. Since November 2021 I´m a PhD student in the Vogler Lab. In my research I investigate the role of BH3-only proteins in apoptosis.

Moni Birkhold

MD student researching the effect of NK cells as immunotherapy in rhabdomyosarcoma, especially focusing on the induction of apoptosis and mechanisms of resistance.

Yannick Braun

As a Pediatric Surgeon at the University‘ Children Hospital Frankfurt I understand how important better treatment options are for children with cancer. To help discover novel treatment options for children with Neuroblastoma, I joined the Vogler lab in 2024 on a project investigating BH3-mimetics.

Mr Frosty

Really helpful team player especially skilled at handling low temperatures. Patiently cools down cells until -80 degrees are reached.
